  • Lactobacillus/Papaya Fruit Ferment Extract
A lab-created, non-living probiotic ingredient made by fermentation of the microorganism Lactobacillus. Applied to skin, it’s been shown to have a potent soothing effect that in turn strengthens the skin’s ability to defend itself from aggressors.  Research has also revealed that this ferment may play a role in helping the skin’s microbiome to maintain a healthy mix of flora, a benefit that may reduce the risk or visible severity of several common, often uncomfortable skin conditions.
  • Hydroxyacetophenone
A synthetic antioxidant and skin-conditioning ingredient capable of neutralising several different types of free radicals. Hydroxyacetophenone also has soothing ability because it can inhibit an enzyme (known as COX-2) in skin’s surface that can lead to signs of irritation.
Rub over the lips in a gentle circular motion for 30 secs.
follow immediately with:  step 2 – hydrate

This process not only removes dead, dry, poorly desquamating surface cells which are cracked and flaky, but this mechanical stimulation also promotes blood flow and stimulates the production of vital collagen, elastin and extracellular matrix components via a feedback loop to the dermis, to help the lips maintain their volume and structure.
Exfoliation also aids the penetration of the subsequent steps in the Lip-Tx protocol.

  • Xylitol
A plant-derived sugar alcohol that, research has shown, hydrates and helps strengthen skin’s barrier.  Xylitol also has an influential role in normalising skin and the natural process keratinocytes (skin cells) go through as they work their way from the lower to the upper layers to the surface. Part of this is due to its ability to squelch damaging factors in skin that would otherwise throw skin’s natural processes off track.
  • Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract
Ingredient derived from the flowers of plant species Chamomilla Matricaria recutita whose main constituents include phenolic compounds, primarily the flavonoids apigenin, quercetin, patuletin, luteolin, and their glucosides, all of which function as antioxidants and have potent skin-soothing action.
  • CentellaAsiatica Extract
Antioxidant-rich extract that is a source of amino acids and has soothing properties with notable improvement in the skin’s moisture content.
  • Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract
A good source of the potent polyphenolic antioxidant trans-resveratrol, which is considered the most bioavailable form of resveratrol.  Known in Traditional Chinese Medicine as Hu Zhang, this plant not only helps thwart free radicals before they can damage skin, it also reduces signs of irritation.  Research has also shown this plant extract can inhibit the formation of advanced glycation end-products, or AGEs. These are collagen-damaging proteins and fats that form in skin as a reaction from exposure to sugars. Left unchecked, AGEs can contribute to wrinkles and loss of firmness.
  • Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract
Known as Huang-Qin within the field of Chinese medicine, this root extract comes from a flowering plant native to China and contains baicalin, wogonoside, baicalein, wogonin, and oroxylin A, all of which are flavones, a type of antioxidant that lend colour to various plants and are known to be soothing, as well as helping skin better withstand environmental aggressors.
  • Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract
Has skin-soothing properties, with one of its components, known as glabridin, being a potent antioxidant and skin-soothing ingredient.
  • Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract
Extract that has antioxidant benefit for skin, with research showing that rosmarinic acid, one of the components in rosemary extract, having a calming effect on skin, which may be useful for mitigating several common skin issues. Rosmarinic acid is an antioxidant, as is caffeic acid, another naturally occurring component of rosemary.
  • Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract
Native to Korea, China, and Japan, research has shown this plant has impressive antioxidant, anti-pollution, and soothing abilities.  Specific to anti-pollution, testing on human skin samples revealed that topical application protects fibroblasts (cells in skin that make collagen) from oxidative damage that heavy metal airborne pollutants trigger. It also intercepts collagen-degrading enzymes before they lead to visible signs of ageing such as wrinkles and orange peel-like skin texture.  Along with offering antioxidant and pollution-neutralizing benefits on its own, topical application also boosts the presence of several antioxidant enzymes that naturally occur in skin, such as superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase. This helps skin better defend itself against external aggressors that detract from a healthy appearance. This plant is also a rich source of the oil-soluble antioxidant gallic acid that defends skin against visible signs of UVB damage.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate & Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid
Component of skin tissue which functions as a superior skin-replenishing ingredient. Has restorative abilities and can boost skin’s moisture content, soothe, and defend against moisture loss. It is capable of holding up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, making it an optimal hydrator for all skin types.  Also provides antioxidant defense against environmental assault and improves the skin’s ability to stay hydrated, visibly decreases wrinkle depth and surface roughness, and help reinforce skin’s protective barrier.
Both hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate are available in different molecular weights for multi-level results (lower molecular weight can penetrate deeper into skin’s layers, where higher weights deliver immediate results on the surface).
Remove backing paper & carefully adapt the mask to the lips, ensuring complete coverage
leave on for several minutes
follow immediately with:
 step 3 – protect

Originally developed to aid in the treatment of skin burns and scarring, the lip mask is rich in antioxidants and sources of amino acids, to soothes the lips, relieving inflammation, and has been shown to notably improve the skin’s moisture content and elasticity.

(see full ingredient list here)
  • Vitamin E
One of the most well-known and researched antioxidants for the body and for skin, Vitamin E occurs naturally in human skin, but can become depleted due to constant environmental exposure in the absence of sun protection.
  • Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Derived from coconut oil and glycerin, it’s considered an excellent emollient and skin-replenishing ingredient due to its mix of fatty acids that skin can use to replenish its surface and resist moisture loss.
  • Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil
Emollient, non-fragrant oil has been shown to enhance skin’s restorative properties.  A plant oil that’s a rich source of numerous fatty acids, it can also provide topical skin-soothing benefits. Its texture is similar to the oil (sebum) human skin produces, one more reason it’s a brilliant ingredient skin.
  • Homosalate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate & Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane
FDA-approved sunscreen active ingredients that provide vital broad-spectrum UVA & UVB protection.
  • Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter
A plant lipid, extracted from the karite tree, used as an emollient with smoothing properties and also a rich source of antioxidants, including quercetin, epicatechin gallate, gallocatechin, epigallocatechin, as well as skin-replenishing fatty acids (stearic and linoleic).
  • Tripeptide-1
Also known by the acronym “GHK” for the amino acids that comprise it (glycine, histidine, and lysine), tripeptide-1 is a synthetic signal peptide known to work with copper in skin to visibly repair substances that have begun to deteriorate due to age and sun exposure. It can help “teach” damaged areas how to rebuild so skin looks and feels smoother and firmer.

Rub over the lips in a gentle circular motion for 30 secs.
Leave on

This professional strength formulation utilizes the intense moisturizing power of hyaluronic acid, together with the protective capacity of Vitamin E and the best FDA-approved sunscreen actives, at the safest and most effective level of SPF 15.
This provides practitioners with confidence that their patient’s lips will be protected long after they leave the clinic & between professional visits.
